Thread regarding Fidelity Investments layoffs

Territory / Turf wars

Anyone going through that recently?

I got this fu--ing annoying member from another team, who is good for nothing.

Yet, I can see behavior which always cause chaos, trying to step on everyone’s toes.

Matter of time when someone asks them to “calm TF down”

Welcome to Thunderdome B@#-$&$!!
2 men in, 1 man out.

Unless you’re me! I refused to play the game.
And drove everyone nuts trying to predict my next steps.

Always stay a step ahead, do not share any truths with anyone.
In fact, I encourage lying to colleagues and managers, A LOT OF Lying!
Tell each one a different lie and see which one gets repeated!
That shows you who the rat is!!

In the end, it’s dog eat dog.
You’ve got about the same chance of finding someone trustworthy at work as a snowball’s chance in h@¥¥!

Remember, 2 can’t keep a secret…. So tell them something juicy that can trip them up if repeated.

The problem is a lot of these managers are responsible for having toxic “competitive” culture.

they make associates “fight” each for “survival” which often turns into a pi----g context.

they play with associates emotions by demeaning high performers while openly praising pencil pushers.

if i was in such situation, I won’t fight for meaningless visibility and just have my work speak for itself.

you’re not more than an a#, just remember that

This post really made me sad to read. I’m sorry for anyone who is going through this right now… it’s such a shame. Fidelity isn’t what it used to be.

That sort of attitude won’t bode well for them in the future, no matter how much “grit” they think they have, puffing their chest. It’s performative at best and abusive at worst.

I’d report it to HR for record, especially the yelling matches anyone was witness to. That is not a safe culture and will take a toll on you mentally. Don’t fear retaliation that would prevent you from reporting this. Don’t engage with the problematic individuals alone, always have a witness. Keep it short, a reasonable description in writing.

This is completely unacceptable and the last thing associates need to be dealing with during such unpredictable times.

seems only south asian managers would do something like this…

they’ll demean their reportee from “same region” to praise a d-mb blonde

same in our team / squad

all of a sudden, manager is in a “yelling match” with associates who were part of the team before this consolidation / merge.

and openly praising someone who just “pushed a pencil”
