What happens to people who actually try to make things better

I used to be the person who volunteered for extra assignments, who looked for ways to cut waste, who stayed late to get things across the finish line. Then I noticed that the people who did those things either burned out and left, or they got managed out by leaders who felt threatened by anyone who seemed too competent. Meanwhile, the people who just showed up, did exactly what they were told, and never rocked the boat were the ones who stuck around. This place doesn't want people who think or try. It wants people who nod and comply.

Ford nor the people in it have any regard for you, your health, your career, your family, or your general wellbeing. No matter what friends you think you have here, it’s a rat race, make no mistake in understanding that. Why give any regard for the company or its goals. This company has shifted from family values to more of those that reflect Machiavellian values in the last 10 years. Don’t kid yourself.

I used to do the same and now after years a maturing, I can honestly look myself in the mirror and think about the time lost with my wife and kids and think "d-mbas5".

Honestly, how fast would these folks kick you out the door.

Would your boss have the guts enough to have a meeting with you where they could look you in the eye to tell you that your gone or would it be a loser-way out where you would get a phone call where they would read some standardized 5x7 card?

Think about yourself OP, nothing wrong with prioritizing your own life !

The real issue here is that this place is run by selfish, talentless individuals who have no understanding of how systems work. They only implement top-down initiatives without any strategy, appreciation for how the code functions, or regard for getting it right. Even if they do understand it, they prioritize getting it done, checking the box, and moving on.

@ak you must be senior management. blaming others for your lack of intelligence.
Anyone who compliments a management team (includes BOD) who just burned $19BN+
and calls them visionary are as blind and deaf as Helen Keller. How can you justify that loss? Company is buying time and people outside have been saying it pretty strong the past year. Dividends that do not make sense given revenue vs profit.
Then the recent profit sharing. they had to do something for the morale. Over 150+ recalls and farley receives $28mn .. He does not even deserve $0.28... But the real blame is the clueless BOD... Worst top management ever at a auto company. totally clueless.

Yup, I feel the same. My motto is always be the change you want to see. If we get kicked then so be it. You do you but don't sacrifice your health. Keep your head up and people notice in a good way.
