Management said that people are more productive at the office. Why would they start telling the truth now? Senior leaders are as trustworthy as a politician.

I heard it was 1% more productive for my function, in the office. Made me chuckle. I want to see the math on that.
It depends on who your manager is and what the topic at hand is. For the most part though when it comes to a significant topic like RTO or RIFs (or anything where HR distributes talking points, post FAQs or has manager training), then you know you're only going to hear whatever the company narrative is that they were told to say. Some lower level managers and people who are straight sho-ters may be a little more genuine. The higher up "leaders" are generally most interested in managing up and proving to their leadership that they are obedient and a leader by doing what they are told as that's what's best for their careers and provides the best optics for them personally.
