Thread regarding Ovintiv layoffs

$100/bo wti… looking for a new job?

Survivors, how many of you are interviewing and applying somewhere else to take advantage of the higher commodity price. My guess is 50% or more of the company is at this point.

A lot of other companies are hiring and I don’t believe the “transformation is complete” narrative.

Any thoughts on this from the audience?

@hg there is undoubtedly worse out there, but the impending doom that is $OVV being bought by a major which will happen sooner than later (look at Shell’s ARC purchase)… anyone in their right mind would be keeping an eye out for themselves. Especially given the shrinking nature of OVV the past half decade.

Ovintiv isn’t perfect but overall it’s a great place to work, smart co-workers, company treats us really well on compensation, generous vacation time and every other Friday off. Yes our top leaders are certainly lacking in vision and ability to actually lead or make decisions and yes the constant layoffs are tiring seeing good people go….but we are pretty lucky to be here, a ton of folks who get laid off never find anything nearly as good so the grass is greener talk I think is mostly bogus. I’m sure there are some better places to work out there but there are most definitely a ton that are way worse!!!

Please show me a list of companies hiring. I have been looking for motnhs and have seen little interest or the jobs are fake and just posted to make it look like companies are hiring. There are a few, but probably not as much as you think. Don't let the job listings on LinkedIn and Indeed fool you.
