Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

What’s next for EMEA then?

I’ve seen quite a few people leaving from the UK offices across different departments — some went mid-May, others are due to ship out end of May. It was a mix of VBGs and the rest, probably around the 100 mark all in.
Heard the RIFs are pretty much done in the smaller spots like Spain. Italy got notified as well but they’ve got that 75 day consultation period to go through. Not sure what’s happening with France and Belgium, they’re pretty small outfits anyway.
Germany’s probably next in line for another 100 heads, seeing as they’ve got nearly 300 over there. There was some chat about selling off Professional Services and Security to a partner, but I’ve got no proper intel on that.
Anyone know any more?

There's hypothetically a big announcement to be done every week

There's hypothetically a big announcement to be done this week, but at least I don't have any scheduled meeting/event.

Anyone knows something else?

@19p you mean Pero office only? Because there is around 150 people in total in Italy.

@185 yes, I don't say it's false. But if I were one of the affected, and I see someone with, for instance, 2 years of tenure, getting the same compensation package as me with 12 years, I would not be happy at all.

@nm in Italy we have around 50 people and 15 are notified.

@181 it's true, you must realise that salaries in Czechia are far lower. they offered mutual agreements to avoid triggering "WARN" and 🪓 them quickly

@vh 8 months for everyone despite years of tenure?

sounds quite weird to me...

@nm Czech rep was 20% cut and was done in April already. The package was 8 months for those impacted if they agreed to leave by the end of next week after announcement. Everyone impacted took the offer as it was better than minimum set by labor law that they woukd get if they didn't agree and went though standard leave period.

In the NL there was an email sent a few weeks ago saying that several positions related to sales managers were removed, and then they sent another one saying the consultation process for security is on its way.

Anyone knows something else?

@c5 security sales team in Germany is what I've heard. Not sure if that's all. Anyway heared next week, probably May 27th there should be some news shared in Germany.

What’s happening in EMEA is absolute torture, to be honest. The rumours and insider info about the RIFs started spreading right after the US layoffs, yet our leadership kept us completely in the dark for nearly six months. Then they finally sent out one of those vague emails that said nothing, even though everyone already knew it was kicking off.
Now it’s just going round country by country with no proper communication at all. VBG is dying a slow death and I’d honestly rather it just got it over with quickly instead of this endless waiting for some light at the end of the tunnel…

A rocky road? more like end of the road, you just know you're going to make it into retirement working for Vz, so plan accordingly.

@cf I wondered about the same thing in another country. Never met them, no clue what they do but they are still there. Perhaps they are tied to the SOC in Germany, so when the axe falls there, they will be goners

Why are all the security folks still there?
Security got completely wiped out in the US. Now it’s just SASE left, which is basically the easy part of the business. So why does EMEA still have a full security sales team, overlays, and a bunch of security solution architects?
And MSIEM is dead — so what’s the deal with the SOC still running in Germany?

So far all I heard is that they are trying to sell the team to either HCL or BT, but as far as I know that has been the plan for several years now with no success, so don't know what to expect.

France has been told that 50 of the 150 people left will be going.

I think the UK hit was about 10%. Italy have been told and will leave at the start of July.

100 in the UK, whats that percentage wise? It's predicted to be around 45% in some of the European countries.

France isn't that small, like 100 heads should be cut
In Belgium the plan was 50% cut
Czech Rep is small and was already cut
No clue about Nordics
