Thread regarding NetApp layoffs

Are remote employees targeted?

After more strict changes for RTO (Thrive Together initiative) It seems remote people are being targeted more than office people in RTP and NANE locales, anyone else seeing that?

So far out of the 18 people I know of personally from across multiple teams, only 1 was remote. Definitely plenty of remotes being hit, especially in remote-heavy teams, but I haven't seen any specific trend. Manager also assured my team (who has a few remotes) that they were not targeting remotes and don't currently have any pressure to. Just info I have access to though, take it with a grain of salt.

Remote workers were overrepresented due to an org being largely remote.

I was informed today that my services will be terminated effective COB today. I'm a remote worker out of the NetApp RTP office.

Well, that's not what I'm seeing. Two of the three senior engineers that were impacted had assigned desk in RTP. They were definitely not remote!

The did have some things in common though (age, race and gender).
