I’m surprised to be seeing such an incredibly massive influx of new hires.. mostly contractors, but FTEs also. At this rate, the new hires could easily outweigh the total layoff numbers.. 5:1 easily. Im not trying to convince or sway anyone to believe anything, i just want to know if anyone else with a high level view is seeing the same thing.

@h2 I am not buying the pandemic bs, not happening. This has absolutely zero to do with any of that, they are driving the org straight into the ground. I hope that AI theyre so optimistic about will live up to all the hype, itll be the death of the org if not.
Manager surveys are coming out this summer. Middle managers will be skewered for the policies and processes they have no control over, doing the bidding for upper management. I'm sure they will then be asked to account for why their team morale is so poor? Must be a manager problem. Good times.
@ee, sorry you have to deal with those cheaply foreign made resources, we all have to : ( Worse are those who climbed up to managing position... without proper training, they (mis)lead with their stupid intuition...
There was no planning during the pandemic and too many people were hired into tech roles that didn’t have qualifications. The company is working on correcting this
as an associate swe i have seen a shocking lack of basic computer literacy (let alone being able to code!) from the senior engineers here. I regularly have to walk senior engineers through debugging tasks or onboarding them to a codebase -- I have gotten no support whatsoever from them, nor any indication that they could. It is impossible to not feel like I am better than them -- all of the LEAPers are. Maybe there's something about graduating from a university where buying grades isn't the norm ...
@cd agreed. It was bad enough that some of these LEAP grads think they are the new masters of the universe. Now couple that with statements made to newspapers about wanting to hire new college grads. I guess having domain and fidelity business knowledge isn't important any longer - sad. Can't wait for the next time Fidelity.com goes down due to some hotshot's carelessness
@ch they said as much in the press. They stated they were looking to hire tech people who are 'early in their careers' - in other words new college grads who are enamored with free coffee and pizza parties
No cap! For shizzle
My suspicion is they will fire the expensive people and fill their roles with cheaper new hires
They need to get movement somehow and there’s nothing better to pi-s everyone off than seeing a 22 year old making more money than they are. Just add that the 22 year old thinks they know more than someone with experience, just for sparkle
Will they try out these new hires and then fire the old ones. That trick they want to play.
Yes 5-6 new hire post on LinkedIn everyday at junior level
