Thread regarding Fidelity Investments layoffs

Stop thinking you can prove your worth here

I've watched teammates ki-l themselves with extra hours and extra work, only to blame themselves when they got cut, convinced they just weren't good enough. Meanwhile, the office politics crowd sails through every round doing nothing. If that's not you, at least stop giving this place more than it deserves.

I forgot to add, no one tells me to go into the office..EVER. Don’t have to, don’t need to.
But if I decide to go, I’ve got a very posh, prime A, penthouse office with an amazing view.
And it’s NOT in a strip mall.
God, that was so tacky.

But sir, all those hours I put in have paid off.

I now work for myself with the support and backing of a large firm.
Had I not performed and became accustomed to such a high performance level, I’d be failing right now.
But instead, I’m told my new firm has never seen someone come in and do what I’ve done in such a short time.

My paycheck has a ton more 000’s at the end than any of the people I worked with.
And, a ton less stress because I directly control the stress factors.

Don’t be afraid of hard work, it usually does pay off.

@a7 great post. If any of us died tomorrow the company would forget us in two weeks. Work to live, don't live to work.

Don't let work determine your worth. If you died tomorrow your loved ones won't say they wish you gave more to the company. They'll say they wish they had more time with you. That's your real worth.
