Cleveland Metropolitan School District leaders defended recent layoffs and school closures. An additional 51 central office administrators received layoff notices. This adds to 315 layoffs approved earlier in April. The district will close 29 schools next year due to declining enrollment. Sixty teachers previously laid off will return as enhanced building substitutes.
