For those of you who got cut, do you blame your direct manager? Or do you see it as something above their heads?

This is quite possibly the most self-answering question you could’ve asked. Mgrs had no idea who or what was getting cut until the day of, 1-2 day notice at max for very few. They werent asking, they were notifying. Nobody outside of a dozen people had any say or even an opportunity to give an opinion prior to the sla-ghter.
Yes, I resent the manager who laid me off and my skip level
Over many years I’ve had a bunch of terrible managers and a couple of good managers. Senior leadership has NO clue how bad most of the managers really are.
My resentment of my manager goes all the way up to my report chain, the closer the stronger.
No. Your manager may not have much of say, or may have been told to hit a specific target. It's an agonizing process to apply human aspects like considering who has young children to support, sick family member, and other challenges each direct report face.
Absolutely !! My manager was threatened by me and stopped including me in important work long back .. this was good opportunity to cut me . But I am glad this happened and I can move on from toxic env.
I did not get cut but I do resent my manager
Absolutely not my managers fault. I do know they have some say in who can get cut but this go around I think it was directly around site strategy, people’s pay, and connect week attendance I have no proof to verify any of that but it definitely felt more targeted by hr than managers.
