Thread regarding Fidelity Investments layoffs

Layoffs and ReOrg have ruined my team

In essence these layoffs and reorg have taken the winds out of my team. the morale is so low it’s un-existing. everyone sounds miserable, noone answers to queries. No one is motivated. my team was a top performing team before all of this. people are scared n rightfully so

anyone else experiencing the same?

@c1 It’s impossible to build real relationships and meaningful connections over Zoom. The great Fidelity culture was built in a shared space called the office.

Returning to the office is painful because it is going to weed out low-value employees who have gotten used to phoning it in — literally — for years. But it’s going to be essential to bolstering the culture of the firm with real, face to face human connections.

The improved performance from people actually working during work hours rather than doing laundry, watching Netflix, spending hours on family stuff, etc will also help.

Things were already feeling off long before this latest round of changes. A lot of the old energy disappeared once certain people left the firm and others took their place or started climbing the ladder and throwing their weight around. The atmosphere’s just been getting colder and more disconnected. But the layoffs and reorgs pushed it into something else entirely. Feels less like a rough patch now and more like a major fall.

@bf unfortunately some of us are required to do regular after-hours on call support. it's essentially unpaid overtime and usually not negotiable. I used to not mind so much until the big in office push, but now it feels unreasonable to be responding to INCs past midnight after pulling a full 8 hour office day.

Quiet quitting is really just doing the work you were hired to do. Management forces you in the office full time so go for 8 hours a day five days a week and complete the work you are supposed to do. Then leave and all the remaining hours each week are yours. If they need more work done then they can hire more employees.

I see it and hear it as well. Leadership can now enjoy quiet quitting, employees working their salary, employees working their 8 hours. Nothing more nothing less. No weekend emails, no early or after hours meetings, and no night time replies. This is 100% on leadership. Can someone please promoe the CEO as soon as possible.
