Thread regarding Canon Inc. layoffs

Gas prices

Ok, gas is now officially $5.00 a gallon in the Midwest, even worse in some places, and energy costs are rising too. It's time for upper management to make a smart decision, stop with this "collaboration" nonsense, and start letting people work from home if their entire job is on a laptop. The company will save money in the short term on energy costs as well and many European countries are encouraging employers to do just that.

It's going to get to the point that people can't afford to come to work and these gas prices are pulling money straight from all of our paychecks that haven't kept up with inflation as it is. And it's going to get a whole lot worse before it gets any better.

@20v When did this Burlington memo go out? What is the new WFH schedule? When does it start?

They'll never let us work fully from home again. Upper Management still has the delusion of collaboration. It's just a control tactic. Burlington just got a memo they're shifting our in office days due to parking issues once CFS moves in. So stupid. Going to sc--w up everyone's personal schedule when it would be 100% simpler and better for everyone mentally, physically, and financially to just go back to 2 days. But NO. They rather sc--w us over again. Numbers keep going down so whole company will probably go under soon anyway.

This company doesn’t give a damn about what is best for their employees! The history should show all of us that! Everything we do can and was done at home for a couple of years until we had to go back in. The raise the profit sharing none of it adds up to the extra money that goes in the gas tank. This is some bullsh-t!

I don’t know why people are downvoting these but majority of the time you get in the car same time as everyone else in the time zone and have a miserable commute just to sit on teams meetings and hear everyone else’s meeting over the cubicle walls if you’re not in one.
Plus dress up and pack or pay for lunch and for what? Has collaboration saved the company so far?

And there’s always a “back in my day” id--t who can’t fathom positive change for society and wants everyone to be a miserable fu-k like they are.

Plus once summer comes, it always goes up in the summer. I've heard West in some areas is at like 8$ a gallon. I so wish they would do this. We asked last yr about "summer" hrs dropping to 2 days a wk and they shot that down. They don't give a F.
