Thread regarding IBM layoffs

IBM beat all its large-cap tech peers in 2022 as investors shunned growth for safety

The Bernstein analysts said the stock’s direction
from here might simply ride on the state of the
economy, rather than any major catalyst inside
the company.

“Given its defensive characteristics and
historical performance, we believe that IBM is
likely to fare well if we continue to have
pressured markets, and likely to lag major
indices if we enter a recovery period,” they
wrote.

"Defensive characteristics". . .

I don't think many people are paying much attention to anyone's stock other than Tesla's. It just hilarious what Elon Musk's antics have done to it. People love to be entertained and Elon is giving it to them.

What's this got to do with layoffs? Not a thing.

This comment is so short sighted as is also the case with most of what goes on inside IBM these days.

In the short run, the market is a voting machine but in the long run, it is a weighing machine. Most investors simply do not believe IBM stock carries much weight anymore, and for good reasons.

IBM is crashing and it's a quantum failure.

At some point, IBM's massive net debt and lack of technology will cause the value to come crashing to where it should be .. about $72 per share.

Why posting this on a layoffs message board? Pompoms to suggest all is well at IBM and its CEO is doing great? I would sell IBM, way better investments out there.

Currently IBM stock is down around 10% on a five year basis versus S&P 500 index which is up 40%! Hardly an impressive run IMHO.
