Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

@aj lol ya …. Completely remote …. With Ai …. Take a look at PayPal ….. I mean idk why everyone refuses to believe what he’s telling you thru his press releases and public discussions. 20-30% layoffs … sales already being handled by Ai … so more will transfer to Ai … buyout coming for sales and any job that can be handled with a flow chart Ai can do easily . They don’t care about the shortcomings and struggles they know will come with it . He’s announcing his game plan . He’ll come in on the low side of 20-30% unemployment… he’s followed thru thus far not sure why people don’t get it .

They want employees back in the office in Basking Ridge because VZ purchased the campus, then sold the campus along with a 20 year lease beginning 2015. That is a huge nut to buy out a 10 year lease. If the buildings are only 10% full, it costs the same to heat or provide a/c. And who do you bounce ideas off of with the open floor plan for collaboration. Just like VZ, jumps on the open floor plan at the same time companies are moving away from the open floor plan because they realized employees are not as productive. What did anyone expect, especially when sitting 3 feet from someone. Remember, there are a large percentage of VZ managers that believe if they are not able to see you work, then you are not working. Does not matter what you produce. Most are not managers, but people promoted for no reason and they thing managing is keeping your thumb pressing down on others. Also, if your job can be done well from home, then you have just told them this is another job that can be performed from anywhere.

I have been going into the office 3 days a week. I have had very very little contact with anybody else while there since September of last year. I would not mind going if there was ANY reason WHATSOEVER, but alas there is not...Its wearing down my car and budget for no justification. Its not the office of 2020. Why they are trying to make it something it isnt I don't know. It just feels so fake. The place is practically empty everytime I go in. I am fortunate and thankful to have a job, but I alsow want some basic logic in the process.....

@ae then why are people near Irving and basking ridge still being forced to office 3 days a week! That’s the point here. People doing same exact jobs as those from home!? Make it make sense!!!

@OP stop with the RTO BS ..get a life...the co. Is going in a direction where work can be done anywhere as long as you perform it efficiently, quickly and no whining....take it or leave it...

Attempts are being made to force people back to the office 1 to 2 days a mos. Either we’re work from home or we’re not. As usual no clear direction from leadership.
