Thread regarding Fidelity Investments layoffs

Internal mobility

When do your manager find out if you have been speaking to an internal recruiter or interviewing?

Received an email from internal recruiter for a role two level higher than me.

But I don't want my manager to know I'm speaking to recruiter or going through the interviews until the offer is finalized.

Any thoughts?

Lol. There's no world in Fidelity where you jump two levels for another job. You will be scrutinized to determine if a one level jump is appropriate. Get a clue.

@bw what if it's a different organization BU altogether?

Like from Bob masciliano to another CIO?

Based on my past experience, the team you interview with will reach out to your current boss no matter what.

If you’re interviewing in the same business unit, they (not you) decide if it’s ok to move to a different team based on the pain/difficulties it would cause.

Many opportunities are posted, but already have a designated person for the position (just the way things work here).

As long as you tick the box "I haven't talked to my current manager yet" when applying for the new position, you don't have to tell you manager until you talked to the new team and are confident that they'll offer you the role.
