The architect for our organization keeps using Gartner reports , online research and chatgpt to command what the devs need to do. He has no clue on real software development, has not written a line of code and woefully incompetent. Our MD loves the BS this person produces with power point slides. EA org loves him as they are equally incompetent. My head hurts and I am losing all will to try push for coding the appropriately designed software stack for our business.

Schwab is plagued with principle engineers and architects that are outdated. MDs and directors that allow poor design to happen are problem. senior leaders are from the Triassic period.
@bm architects really shouldn't be determining the products you use for your solutions (like Mongo or SQL).
@a1 retail brokerage. Alto opinionated UI framework that su-ks big time. The architect makes it worse insisting on multiple layers for middleware and twisted api contracts. Plus talks about data engineering and resilience and fault tolerance principles with no clue.
EA is the reason this person thrives as someone put a template on how services should look.

It is against standards to use SQL and Mongo for the same function. Always fight this nonsense by having the architect cite the standards. And by finding the standard that contradicts them.
My Architect wants to use a SQL and Mongo DB to record Click Events. I can't talk her out of it. The sad part is there is no checks and balances and she got approval to use both for her use case. I told my team we can just use adobe analytics which we already have integrated with for the past few years but no one listens in my team.
Is this the cases of nepotism ?
