This department should be dismantled. They do nothing for anyone. They are on yellow status all day long. How much do they even get paid?

CVS' HR Department is a mess which no one knows how to straighten out. I was one of the 3,000 staff members laid off in 2024. I had actually been set up in the system for a promotion, but someone in HR determined who in our department would get laid off and they did so without talking to senior leadership in my department. Unbelievable! That was some surprise. A lot went into trying to straighten it out and there are so many systems involved, HR had to pull in staff from other sources to try and straighten it out. It got straightened out but then someone in HR pulled an old file and sent it downstream again three days before the term date, so once again the systems were showing that laying was formally happening in December. CVS HR making decisions on who to lay off without talking to their VP? How is this allowed? CVS HR doesn't know how to fix such mistakes properly? I decided to be done with this company, it's too much of a mess. I wish CVS had never acquired Aetna. Everything went downhill after that.
Blah...blah....blah. Quit damn it...
I’m in HR on the corporate side and my specific role pretty much only exists to make state regulators happy. When there’s an investigation or lawsuit I provide the receipts. I make $140k and am salaried because I’m generally on call, but I’m not exaggerating when I say there are cashiers working in CVS stores that could do my job.
This whole company has become a joke. Get rid of all of the analysts and other hourly employees without removing any of the administrative work and I’m now a glorified and overpaid admin.
HR is not your friend. Always keep that in mind.
Only thing our HR is good for is showing off colleague zone shoes. There's many useless departments there though, like our legal department.
Unfortunately human resources is there to protect the company NOT the employee. So yeah what do you expect?
