Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

Work from home

The whole world is changing to work from home due to energy crisis.Only these jokers ask everyone to come in person on all 5 days,badge in badge out..
Wonder where the priorities are.Org changes across the board by new SLT.Hopefully that revives the titanic

FISERV had and was a work from home culture. That was until it took over First Data. FD is anti wfh and the execs said so on their first conference call after the merger. COVID slowed down the plan. After the virus was over and done with it was full steam ahead.

@gd what makes us different is we are on teams calls 70% of the time and our work do not require us to be on site to be efficient -100% of the work output is produced collaborating in Teams and through Laptops. Now is that possible for nurses and supermarket folks? D-mb argument….,,you got a change otherwise will perish

Ai should commute to the office and pay taxes and its own gas/electric bill. Do the bad work of 10 people tax that.

@h4 Absolutely correct. And the same access hoops and security is required from home or office. Often times, remote access has better bandwidth than the "center of excellence" locations. Not to mention, during covid the company flourished. People were happier.

@h3 My choice? Then it should be my choice to either work in an office or not. Keep licking that boot.

@OP Normally I would say that teams work better when together, so being in an office together makes sense. But Fiserv is a crazy place with teams spread all over the place. VPs in one office, senior managers in another, and staff in yet another, there are still some fully remote employees kicking around who were able to work out deal (good for them, I don’t begrudge), not to mention the contractors who come and go on their own schedules, so what’s the point of coming into an office if most of the time I need to be on a teams call to talk to anyone.

@ge i guess you were a person who needed a quiet room / nurturing to express your emotions when things got tough. If you dont like going to office then dont and just move on. Dont whine because your job wants you in the office.your choice your decisions take it or leave it Please stop whining about going to office this is a layoff board people lost their jobs and are unemployed and you are crying about going to work.

If a company has money riding on butts in seats (tax breaks or sunk costs in already-purchased real estate), what makes you think its leaders give a toss that employees are dropping $4+ on a gallon of gas?

What a hoot.

@gd what makes us different is we have totally different jobs than people who work at hospitals and restaurants.

@g2 No ivory towers here. Its business gas has been high in years past the USA cant close down because gas prices are higher. What makes you different then employees at hospitals resturants, supermarkets, banks and schools. Come you can do it ride a bike take public transportation always options out there. Repeat this 10x Life is rough sometimes. Its going to be okay you will get through this.

@an deal? GTFO.

You're forgetting how unaffordable gas is in many areas or you can't see that from your ivory tower, mate.

@d5 tax breaks ended for Coral. We're leasing this building now until we move.

I doubt the rumored BRIC site has that

Reminder: state tax breaks were given for promise to bring employees into the office. Work from home would mean losing the tax breaks. In case you do t know what that means yo the bottom line the easiest explanation is that the office wins.

Probably because Frank had huge commercial real estate investments. If Mike wanted a major win with the employees he would bring back the flexible work arrangement.

Why be in person when everyone else you work with is in another office or offshore in India?

@af you can criticize Boomers for a lot of things, they aren't the ones who whine about coming to the office Millennials and Gen Z are the ones who do that

@ab

No. You'll have to sniff someone else's farts as you hang out in the restroom. Sorry if that crushes your dreams...

@a9

And of course, society at large should permanently freeze at the point where you were driving in, right?

And of course, all other aspects of existence should also freeze at that point, right? No cherry picking.

So, when I have a stable and secure career that can fully support a family, no offshoring, no layoffs, no stack ranking, etc. - then ok, I'll trundle on into the office. Deal?

@a9 some old fa-t making the foolish decision to waste hours of his life driving changes nothing for the argument that WFH is the most sensible option for newer generations - off to the nursing home with you!
