Vendors, I recommend preparing your resumes and to start the interview process. The culling has already begun internally, getting announced in the next couple weeks.

Didn’t seem that bad?
@b9 It doesn't take becoming FT. The smart due this long before become FT.
Contractors are not vendors. The companies that supply the contractors to MDT are the vendors.
Who calls "contractors" vendors??
@b9 no. But I’ve seen the life slowly drain from many FTEs eyes after years of working for an uninspiring mess of a company.
Anyone else ever witness a contactor get converted to FTE and go from "superstar to deadwood" in a matter of months?
So we load up Vendors/Contractors as much work as possible while dangling a carrot in front of them and then cut them because it makes the balance sheets look better. That's sickening.
Vendors/Contractors, Temps then FTE it happens in that order. Some BU's try to save external labor with critical for business reason, but with the new budget numbers being given to them. Good Luck with that plan unless the BU likes RIF'ing there FTE co-workers. EM is in control now.
@a9 thank you. I guess I do work with a lot of vendors.
Well on the upside. This is EM juicing the stock so they can cash out.
@a8 aka: “Contractors.” These are your colleagues who are not employed by MDT but by a vendor for a specific period. They are commonly first to be targeted when cuts are required. They get cut and may/may not get re-newed later.
Explain vendors to me like I’m brand new, please. I’ve never interacted with them in my time at Medtronic.
Wi heard from Microsoft that medtronic still hasn’t renewed its support contract with them! This is a very unusual situation . What is going on?
Vendors will still work for their company. They may be benched for a few weeks or so, before getting redeployed to a different company. These are MNC vendors with massive client lists. They’ll be ok. It’s part of the gig when you sign up for a consulting firm.
The question you really should be thinking about — does the vendor move make the numbers work for your org. Or not…
