Thread regarding Weatherford International Ltd. layoffs

Moving toward a sell...

So who is the strategic fit with all the layoffs and shutdowns? Weatherford is strong on the books but they are not going to be able to sustain growth as they can't grow the market share against the SLB, Halliburton, or even Baker.

I would bet on Baker, as they seem to be cleaning their books of distractions and getting to the core. I'm not sure WFRD has much to offer them at this point, as they may have in the past, but still would seem the best option for them -- just come other areas that would need to be divested.

Do you think they've cleaned up enough that they would be a target? I know a lot of debt was cleared with their bankruptcy but the management structure still seems a bit heavy in the midsection, especially as they clean headcount each quarter, it seems.

Don't think they have the depth to be going after anything themselves that would be substantial.

Traditional mix seems to still be in play, they are strong on d-mb-iron side and production, weak on completion and software. Seems to be a good fit for several, especially as they've missed a step or two on production so don't think they would be too large in that area that combining with another would get delayed.
