Thread regarding Walgreens layoffs

This company is headed for the trash heaps of history...

Mandatory distribution of performance reviews will always lead to cutting those with institutional knowledge. As one moves up, the number of people you are distributed against becomes smaller and smaller.

At some point, you are no longer talking about high performers and low performers, but those who are liked better. When the company then uses those reviews to decide who to cut, they are making a big mistake. It results in cronyism.

As you already pointed out, this is rampant in this company. Here's to hoping I get chosen for severance next time.

Call it experience or practical knowledge. When you say institutional knowledge, it sounds like corruption. Thanks.

Institutional knowledge is important. Neal had to bring some people back because of knowledge.

From what I have seen, Institutional knowledge claim guys are always the burden and they create a red tape so they can coast. They make it look like company would shut down if they left or were booted. The fact is those institutional knowledge guys were around until layoffs for sure and still company was doing poorly.

These guys talk BS in meetings to show their value.

@c5 I doubt anyone is expecting to "sit around, doing nothing". I believe the concern is a lack of appreciation from the powers that be for the knowledge and experience that long term employees bring to an organization. That said, Sycamore may only be looking at the short term since PE firms tend to strip out all the value they can and then dump the company. Hopefully, I'm wrong.

So ... having "institutional knowledge" means you can sit around, doing nothing, for the rest of your life? Yeah ... OK ...

Agreed

An absolutely disgusting culture and worsening daily.

Every manager and pharmacist conversation involves the exit.

Sycamore has proven themselves to be fools
