“Others are going to follow suit,” said Beth Steinberg, a veteran human-resources executive who has spent much of her career at technology companies. “A few companies will do it, they’ll get praise.” That, she said, will encourage other leadership teams to “come back to their companies and be like, ‘We have to do huge layoffs.’”

"Beth Steinberg". The g-y know, we are watching.

For those sleepy heads, wake up before it's too late.

Why is this surprising? It is the primary directive of HR to dehumanize employees and treat them as expendable. It is literally in their name - Human Resources. To them, humans are just resources like staplers and printing paper. They just operationalize what the executives order them to do. At SAP, they have the most comfy jobs because HRs are more likely to get laid off than engineers. And soon most of them will become engineering managers. It is a win win situation to be an HR at SAP.
