How do internal transfers work at Ford?

If I move to a different team but stay at the same level, should I expect a salary increase?

When you move laterally, nothing changes unless ..... in the very rare case, your new boss wants to bump your pay. This is very rare as HR does not like this to occur outside grade and promotion increases.

You have to ask yourself if it is worth the trouble.

Very rare unless it is to a different market with a higher salary for your band.

@OP. Usually the employee keeps the same salary, if they stay in the same band. However, this is not mandatory. I know one case that took a pay cut, just to get away from the old team. So it is possible to get a better salary, just not very common.

BTW, bonus and salary increases may vary, depending of the team. If the new team is making more than the old team, your salary increases will be higher. If there are less people in the same salary band, you'll get a bigger bonus.

Only do an internal transfer if your supervisor asks you. If you ask for one, you will be labeled as disloyal and put on the next layoff list. Be very careful with this. If you don’t like the section you are in, you may want to consider looking externally for another job.
