Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Average mgmt

Once upon a time an employee
In management hogged his or her seat for almost decades.
In times like these , where the stock price is not moving and hovering around at a standstill, why is management still hogging their seats with over 3 years
. There should be a constant annual churn if you are not producing just like our top
Employees were let go in RIF. There has to be a specific management level RIF as well
.

Managers used to have experience and the education for the roles they filled.
Today those positions are filled by people with neither the experience or education (look how many engineering management positions are filled by those with no tech degree or skills at all). Too many managers promoted by the VzW 30 month whirlwind tour manager creation factory. Once you know that, you'll understand why one bad technical and planning decision after another keeps getting made.

We had a 2nd level in field ops who came straight from Mariott who knew nothing about telecom. She was questioning why field techs were DOING THEIR JOB and was generally unpleasant to work for. True D-E-I hire.

Once upon a time managers were promoted from techs who knew the job. Fast forward to today’s reality. No good tech in their wildest hallucinations would take a management job in Verizon.
