AMD Is Losing Ground to Intel in This Key Chip Market

Advanced Micro Devices (AMD -2.05%) and Nvidia (NVDA -6.58%) hold a near-duopoly in discrete GPUs. Nvidia controls the majority of the market with its higher-end chips, while AMD remains the persistent underdog in the lower-end market. However, that duopoly could soon be threatened by Intel (INTC -0.52%), which recently returned to the discrete GPU market after an absence of more than two decades.

It is funny that you are debating with an investment company on this issue. Intel has come down to owning shares or not. Intellect and employees are secondary?

I want to see discrete graphics succeed, but The Fool fell off so hard by writing that this would somehow sway investments lol

AMD is losing ground to Intel in graphics? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Intel wraps dollar bills around low end discrete graphics to generate business and loses money of every shipment? I'd call that a win for AMD. They will let Intel have all the negative margin business they can eat.

Remember Intel ATOM? Same idea, mega losses. Shut down.

We all know that 4% share is from the low end of the market, so very few dollars there.

Intel is burning a lot of cash at a time when revenues are plummeting.

We’ll see how this debacle goes. I’m not optimistic.
