Clearly the company will cancel the pension soon or fire you before age 55. They aren’t even trying to hide it anymore. It isn’t worth staying for. Do the math. Research what other options there are.

I was piped out at 53 so yes they can and will get rid of you. NRE protection is gone. The pension lump sum is cr-p with under 20 years of service. Most employees are piped at 20 years or less. I remember the old timers that had 30 or 40 years and they had a good payout. I will work for another few years and then retire. exxon su-ks now .
The union is needed now. Clearly. We need to get this done.

I retired several years ago. I only stayed as long as I did for the pension. With that gone, no reason to put up with the cr-p ExxonMobil dishes out. Odds are slim to make it the 15 years before they get you with a PIP. Very unethical company. I think it would be funny if someone started to unionize.
