Thread regarding Optum layoffs

My plan is not quiet quitting

I can understand those who decide to do so. However, why waste time here on playing games, when it is actually possible to find a better job, where you will be much more valued and where you will not put yourself in danger of having your skills atrophy while doing the bare minimum?

My plan is to do my job... By doing my job I avoid bringing unnecessary attention so my name is not on the lips or in the mind of the boss who chooses to fire. Good luck on the quiet quitting.

The new gen x group have always practiced "quiet Quitting".... they are lazy, barely know their job let alone what they were hired for so I would call that quiet quitting

The boomer simps are at it hard this week.

Is corporate American leadership ready to embrace the "work your wage" mentality?

Stop calling it 'leadership'. It's slave drivers with fancy titles. Nothing more.

...they believe the place is crawling with people who naturally give more effort with very little reward.

No they don't. They think if they continue to ply up the farce of 'trickle down economics' and the lie of meritocracy then they'll continue to squeeze extra productivity out of the worker bees.

It must be hard to have a job where you do not feel valued enough. If this inaction gives you, the quitters, the mental peace you deserve, good for you!!!

What do you recommend? Staying in a job that works you to death for less than you deserve, being belittled and bullied by a clown who has a higher rank than you? You know what the definition of insanity is, right?

Is corporate American leadership ready to embrace the "work your wage" mentality? I am guessing not because they believe the place is crawling with people who naturally give more effort with very little reward. That has not been my observation nor does it match normal human brain encoding. We encode positive reinforcement more readily than negative. Hence why threat of punishment generally doesn't stop behaviors.

Seemed to me that many older employees were doing just that, new skills would have limited value if retiring in the next five years. Meanwhile the company outsourced so many high paying jobs and took away meaningful work here, it’s not an unreasonable option and makes up for all the years of pitiful raises.

Just do the minimum (quiet quit) and work a side hustle or second job. It's easy to double up when working remote.

One can use their time here barely working, WHILE hunting for a better job. Former employers can't disclose much to new employers about an employee, so once you decide to Quiet Quit, you never have to work overtime.

You can just nod politely to your boss as they make demands you won't comply with. And, you can basically coast until you leave. Just remember to take all your time before giving notice, because "PTO hours are a grant, not an accrual".
