Thread regarding Altice USA (Cablevision) layoffs

So we’re funding their lobbying now?

They just asked us to fund their political agenda. With our own money. 🚨

Leadership held a call with Senior Directors and above asking employees to personally donate to one of the Political Action Committee that Altice USA recommends — that fund lobbying politicians and shape policy to benefit the company.

No reimbursement. Not a single cent back.
What do we get? A virtual badge. And “bragging rights” for the department that donates the most.

They claimed whether we donate or not has no influence on our employment, but I highly doubt that.

So let’s be clear: the company wants US to dig into OUR paychecks to fund THEIR political influence — and the reward is a digital sticker.

Funny how this policy and the "dont like anything on social media" policy dropped on the same day. Sounds like a support uncle Bibi or else initiative.

They’ll also donate a portion to charity on your behalf of you contribute to a PAC. I’m sure Dennis’s personal charity “Bloom India” is on top of the list.

I’ve happily been gone for over two years but I come back here to check up on things and to have a good laugh. This place is far worse than it was two years ago and the request for employees to fund their political agenda is even lower than I thought these $hit bags could go.

I dont know what you guys are complaining about, I happily donated, the badge is a symbol of my virtue...one might say a virtue signal... and those bragging rights? Man, I cant wait for the next off site where I can dunk on all those that did not donate, not that I would hold it against them or make any hiring or promotion decisions based on that... but dunk on them in a HR approved way.... you bet ya! I just hope that Dennis knows that we are all in this together, but I am just a little more all in then these other mid losers.

A former employer reimbursed our Corporate PAC donations at the same amount which we could direct to any charity of our choosing. We could also apply for corporate gift matching on our donation. Would love to know what policy Optimum wants to weigh in on. Maybe debt forgiveness??

Let me be direct: asking employees to personally fund corporate political agendas, with zero reimbursement, is a serious overstep. A virtual badge is not compensation. "Bragging rights" are not compensation. My paycheck is not a corporate lobbying fund.

The disclaimer that donations won't affect employment doesn't make this request appropriate. It makes it worse, because it signals you already know how this looks.
