I am likely planning on resigning from my position sometime soon (partially because it’s become a nightmare and also due to a family issue). Is there any harm in volunteering for the next RIF? I see many dates on here (April, May, June, etc.) I don’t know if volunteering for the next RIF will make my already tense situation at work even worse. If I am going to quit, I would hate to do it too soon and miss out on a severance package. Thoughts?

@OP Volunteer but don’t put it out there anywhere that you’re gonna leave anyway . If they think even an inkling they will pass you on riff and have an extra job gone to save the payout .
I been praying since last year, but they only lay off the good workers.
Nothing going to happen don't worry take vacation and come back strong stock together going to announce its a good sign
I did before last round (wasn’t selected) and did 2 weeks ago.
Yes you can volunteer, ive seen it countless times
I dud it 3 years ago... wasnt selected then last year I was. Do it professionally so not to burn a bridge. It's called "Self nominate". It works
I'd keep schtum, the logic of anyone making a decision is you'll leave of your own accord without payoff soon enough so they won't pick you.
Honestly, your mental health is more important. Control your own destiny and don't look back.
My last boss (who was RIF’d) said it’s a myth you can volunteer when there isn’t a VSP.
@OP I’ve effectively volunteered for the next RIF. Hoping the rumors are accurate for May/June.
I volunteered for the last RIF. They cut two good people and I’m still here. Good luck with that!
