In your view, what's the purpose of technology @ BD? It's a rhetorical question.

Honestly, the quality of leadership at the AD, Director, and even VP levels is pretty underwhelming — and that’s putting it mildly. Most of these folks are long-time BD insiders, which says a lot about how the company rewards mediocrity. They don’t understand technology, they don’t get business, and it’s clear they’ve made little effort to learn either.
The people above them who promoted this group weren’t exactly visionaries themselves — they seemed more focused on protecting their positions than bringing in real talent.
However if BD truly had capable folks in TGS, the ERP implementation wouldn’t be such a disaster. The obvious question remains: Have we ever actually had enough good people to make a difference?
Over time, the amount of people in TGS who have actual hands-on technical experience and knowledge has dwindled. These are those with 15+ years with BD when employees still did real work. The % of “paper pushers” has grown. The org is ridiculously top-heavy. Everyone is an AD or Director at this point and many of these “leaders” have neither real IT knowledge nor management skills. They’re easy to identify. They never want to get into specifics because they can’t. And these are the people who interview to fill new roles. We hire a bunch of college grads every year and immediately give them titles starting with “Senior..”. And all we expect from them is power points and emails. It’s laughable.
@ja Is TGS missing strong technical talent because of BD’s reputation, corruption, or just an inability to attract the right people? Maybe it’s time to rethink who’s doing the interviews. Sorry to say, but I am yet to meet one single strong technical people from TGS.
Why is there so much resentment toward TGS? Isn’t this really a leadership issue across all levels and departments, with TGS employees also bearing the consequences? And was the CIO actually appointed by TGS? Do you think TGS VPs will allow anyone good to come to the front , work and expose their corruption? If there is a will, it is very easy to expose their corruption and kickback systems.
The kind of people lead TGS talks about BD’s standards. There are few good TGS folks as well, but they have no future in BD. Incompetent , insecure people will never promote anyone who knows more than them.
Some of us provided that input to higher management, but I don’t think leadership wants to run this organization better. In fact, I think tom is making it easier to sell.
TGS will recite the mantra that its purpose is to drive technology in support of the business but the truth is that its purpose is to push people’s individual agendas. The culture is horrible.
