@hj “Hard decisions” is always code for job losses.
there's a news article in The Times (UK newspaper) with the headline:
‘Meg the merciless’ faces pressure to make hard decisions at BP
it's behind a paywall of course, so I haven't read it
The CFO will be the first to get ejected.
Day 1 - intro email with a video message. First month - town hall. 3 months - tour sites and meet employees. 4 months - announce changes. 6 months to a year - implement change.
she alreay had her 90 days outside bp - she doesn't have much time. She needs to sort out bp in 9 month. I expect announcements in first two weeks. Different time - different style.
Based on previous track record, I wouldn’t expect a big splash on day one. Her style is usually very steady and operational, so it’ll likely start with a simple all staff note and then a webcast once she’s had time with the EVP, SVPs. The first few weeks tend to be about listening and understanding the business rather than making noise.
At EVP level, any changes are more likely to be targeted than sweeping. She’s known for tightening execution, clarifying accountability and making adjustments where performance or alignment isn’t where she wants it. Nothing dramatic for the sake of it more measured, deliberate moves once she’s got the full picture.
