Waste of time, nothing new from the has-beens. Will be glad to see them gone hopefully.

The town hall was good. Leaders were transparent. They answered a lot of questions, and they weren’t all softball questions either. Though I would like to hear from the chairman and our incoming CEO.

Everyone gets a notice in our calendars that SVP Wells is in town. The amount of groveling one Leader does to another esp in central teams is cringeworthy. Who cares if an SVP is visiting, lay us all off? Does she even know what work we do or our personalities? Just self promotion for each other. Another video cut from the trip at $10k and forcing us to watch. Employees really should ignore leaders when they pass by unless you personally know them. Don’t feed into their low self esteem by propping, liking and sharing everything on LI or yammer.

Tomorrow the layoffs start in oil and gas technology and will be P&O next month. The fundamental question is the central teams have shed 75% of their headcount over the past 10 years. But the regions have 4 DE/CE/IE per well. This compares to 1.5 at Chevron and 2 at Shell. I just don’t see this as sustainable at bp, but we are socialist by nature and like to spread the wealth.

It’s on Wednesday. I’d ask when the next round of layoffs will happen and how many people will be let go.
