Directors and ADs are going mad

I’m stuck in a three-layer sandwich—Sr. Director, Director, and AD. Sr. Director seems calm and confident, but the Director and AD are all over the place. Priorities change almost every hour, so the team is constantly scrambling and redoing work.

We’re getting pulled in 10 different directions at once, including being pushed to work on things that don’t even seem relevant anymore. It’s honestly a pretty chaotic and frustrating environment.

And the worst part—there’s no escape. Hardly any internal roles are opening up within Verizon right now.

They are chasing the wind to become relevant, ai talk shows, beautiful ppt presentations, talking like J Huang, or frustrating to know the technical details incomprehensible to them

It's a war at that level. Everyone is trying desperately to find his/her own space that could continue to justify their employment.

I’m in a similar boat but with roles reversed. My AD is steady and everyone above him changes their mind weekly. I’ve lost count of how many times our number one priority has changed this year. I’m new to Verizon and y’all, this ain’t normal. I think a lot of people have been around so long they forgot what the outside world is like. Folks around me shrug their shoulders like every company operates this way. They don’t. This place is uniquely bonkers.

If Dan wants to make an impact.. needs to remove Senior Director layer and reduce Directors by 20%

Chaos It's everywhere...after the reorg they placed many SD with no freaking knowledge about their new new biz units without any vetting....so there you have it....Dan had good intentions but as long as he lets his immediate lower reports doing this type of thing, this co is going nowhere....there is an utter chaos everywhere you look at
