UNC Brag Posts

Anyone else sick of the nonstop brag posts about training for the chosen ones? I haven’t been to training in years!

Some real tu-ds have attended this training. One of the chosen ones went postal and threatened all of the subordinates. He was really on edge and would scream and shout. Once he backed up an employee against the wall and started verbally attacking the employee. The veins on his head were throbing. We thought there was going to be physical violence. The crazy supervisor went on medical leave. We all went to HR and complained. This special supervisor was transfered to west Texas and got into a fight with some of the rough necks. He was investigated and fired after that. I have encountered several of these types of employees that have been enabled by exxon and it's managers act like an a hole. One kept threatening to fire us if we did not file express safes or contribute to the weam recognition system. They used the word insubordinate to intimidate us. Absolute power corrupt s Absolutely. Exxon is a sick place to work.

@e6 perfect example of how the company blows smoke up peoples as--s to give them false hope. Truth is even high rankings are meaningless. There are the chosen few who can do no wrong and there is everyone else. You can’t work your way into the hipo group.

The best quote that I took away from the University of North Carolina ExxonMobil managers business course was from the Dean of the Business School.

After the ExxonMobil executive finished her cheerleader talk during the UNC dinner for the employees on how you could be a V.P. someday the Dean of the Business School stood up after the ExxonMobil VP left the dinner and the Dean told the 300 of us in attendance, "Just remember, for every 3000 ExxonMobil employees that tried and failed to rise to V.P. level, there are 2999 employees that have a tombstone in the local cemetery. Remember that the odds are against you."

It doesn’t make a hill of beans difference in your career - fun boondoggle though in the era of LEG!

What I don’t like is the profile of the folks who know their future. All the dates of current job and next. That’s BS

Getting training approved is basically impossible now unless you are a hipo or early career

Oh It's all politics. I was scheduled to attend a training course related to my project work. I had a disagreement with the project lead, and they went to my manager and told him not to let me attend. When I confronted my useless manager about it, he hid behind the excuse that “the timing isn’t right.” Dude grow a pair of ba--s and be upfront....
