Fireside chat

Will Dan finally deliver on his promise to share his grand plan for the future or will this be another wasted 30 min. listening to him ramble on about nothing?

@bf what is FEA? In my market many RF were moved to SP, including one of the RF Assoc Directors. Our SP has been beefed up, not cut back.

@bc Ten years ago in a directors meeting we were told there are too many people “touching” the network. We were told VZW was going to embrace automation and reduce headcount accordingly. RFE and SPE have already been gutted. FEA is next.

@b2 everything you just listed can be done cheaper if contracted out. VZ doesn’t have to pay benefits to contractors…no salaries…no fleet expenses…no retirement. If you want to stay relevant in wireless, learn to climb.

Dan doesn’t “care” as such. He has his own targets which might well result in the destruction and consumption of many existing employees. Just don’t be complacent and think this company cares about you, it doesn’t

To the person that says get rid of the FAE's. You really don't know the 1st thing about our job! 1) Transport troubleshooting to include all types of fiber rings, microwave and hub sites. 2) 5G server troubleshooting and repair at the sites. 3) 4G BBU troubleshooting and repair. 4) Interference troubleshooting and resolution. 5) In building systems troubleshooting. 6) Repair and maintenance of remote alarming systems. 7) Maintenance of all the regulatory requirements at sites. 8) Preventative maintenance and documentation of all site equipment. 9) 24 X 7 coverage for disaster support and events. 10) Maintenance of government require asset tracking. I'm gonna stop at ten. You can let us all go. We have skill sets and can find other work. Managers on the other hand really can be downsized by AI and good luck getting another desk job.

Get rid of the FAE’s. Since we moved the RRU’s to the top of the tower and they can’t climb, I don’t see any need to keep them on. Automation can handle their remaining tasks. Tower crews do most of the troubleshooting now anyway…

it seems clear what the plan is- cut OPEX by alot (layoffs, sunsetting legacy dogs like much of VZB) , buy back a ton of stock, perhaps spin off real estate to a heavilty debt ridden REIT, do whatever you have to to make net adds contiunue, watch the stock price rise.
It is a shell game and utlimately will take the whole thing down

@OP seems like you haven't listened or just don't understand what he has said over and over and has done what he has said

We have a clear and actionable plan. Grow revenue. Cut costs. Delight our customers. Support convergence. Listen to the prepaid team fawn over themselves with LinkedIn posts about their drunken travels and how they are the best in the business.
