Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Spill the beans

What are things you want everyone to know about this crazy company?

We need a union & this wouldn’t be happening. 7 from my team (including myself) were laid off yesterday. Lame Teams meeting, call muted, read from a script, no emotion, on/off in 7 minutes total. 14 years of dedicated service to our customers gone!! They don’t care. We are just a # and they want more $ to pad their own retirement plans and bank accounts. Sickening!! It’s time to expose what we know…

The position of CISO seems to be a position no one wants unless you want to be rifled by politics. To date Booker has been the longest serving CISO. We saw the incompetent Cardwell get the position and fired. Now McKnight is off. No stability. I’m going to spill the beans. The amount of corrupting in those Cardwell brought into the organization has had a lasting impact on culture.. negatively. Long after Cardwell and Thirion love in and allegedly affair, it’s set a downward spiral that seemed to have bred despair. Whoever steps into the new CISO role, is going to have to change the back stabbing culture.

Not a good sign considering the recent data breaches.

Before moving to Optum, I worked for a WM clinic. This was COVID era and I was privy to a conversation with higher ups about a clinic incorrectly administering the COVID shots. Turns out they had been giving both vials of the shot in the box, effectively doubling the dose they were supposed to administer. Long story short, no investigation was kickstarted and it was swept under the rug. I often think about the people who unknowingly received the wrong dose and how that’s impacted their lives.

Nothing to spill. In early January they publicly said in their earnings to the SEC and investors they set aside $2.5 billion for restructuring (which means layoff severances) and were cutting programs entirely. The layoffs were apparent then and now we su-kers stuck here get to deal with them.
