Is Powerflex only place like this or its across whole ISG or Dell?
In recent weeks its like AI and nothing else matters.. each meeting each demo each talk is always AI.. half of people dont even know what to do.. so they ask AI, then send AI responses to other in slack/jira. slop times.
I love when folks on demo are more focused to say how windsurf or other LLM tool help them or did all VS why and what they actually did.
Its like AI psychosis.
Everyday i see brand new AI slop which does exactly NOTHING promoted like someone invented warp drive.
I hope devin credits finish and it will end as I cant stand hearing about another SLOP sh-t another month.
the only time AI is used is in hackathons and it's pretty basic, rudimentary use. Nothing mind blowing.
@e0 100% agree with your assessment! They keep saying AI...use AI, need AI, more AI but they have no damn clue.
Powerflex is bad enough as it is, when 80% of cases coming in are install and upgrade issues, mgmt, engineering and the devs, really need yo get their sh-t sorted before yapping on about AI...

@ef I remember in the late 90s when some consultants showed up at a small firm touting the intra-net. Management was oohing and ahhing until I pointed out that we were already doing that and if they would walk around they would see what was going on.

AI is being inserted into everything as a buzzword just like “blockchain” was a decade ago.
90% of them probably don’t even understand what they’re saying. But that’s kind of the point.
ISG is an absolute shithole show! Leadership has no clue what they're doing in this org, especially as it pertains to AI. Unbelievable they're still here.
It all comes from the id10ts in management. They’re a$$ kissing.
It feels similar to the dotcom to me. Same sentiment.
0.01x devs now pretend to be 10x, which just ends with 100x more sh-t to deal with later.
This is exactly how it is in my area of ISG as well. So many AI grifters positioning themselves as gurus. They bring up AI constantly as you've noticed. And you know what? Leadership is absolutely eating it up with a spoon and rewarding those people. It seems like you have to either play the game and contribute to the slop or risk suffering the consequences. It's sad that it has come to this.

The only thing Dell has to do with AI is knowing how to make a slot to put the chip in. That's it!.
The amount of money in the industry earmarked for AI is huge. What will they actually spend? No one really knows. You listen to Nvidia and the world will be changing fast. The AI psychosis you speak about is every CEO trying to jockey to a position where they are running their business with less people and more AI which they perceive to be saving them money. There is nothing to do but watch and wait. Prepare for a job after getting cut because of AI? Maybe. This isn't a pivot from one industry to another; this is wholesale replacement of people. They are even talking about AI representing limitless labor? LOL Sure, limitless data centers, limitless electricity for data centers etc etc. That is complete BS.
in my area, they are clueless how to implement it.
Its a bubble and I am waiting for it to "pop"
