Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

Salary change c12 to c13

Can someone moving from c12 to c13 plan for the mid part of the salary range of a c13 in the US? Or will it be at the low end of a c13 range?

Discussions or sites about layoffs are inherently interconnected and intertwined with topics about career paths, companies' bad policies, bad practices, bad management, etc..

They're all related. Anyone who chooses to be myopic is sh00ting themselves in the foot ! 🦶

HR "Human" Resources or a "Manager" gallantly and nobly defending Citi's honor (it has None).

This site is NOT www.iloveciti.com. It's called www.thelayoff.com.

The name itself implies and by extension is a site for bashing and criticizing Citi's LIES, policies, methods, subterfuges and machinations.

What bothers HR and "managers" is the fact that employees are smart, shrewd and incisive enough to identify and articulate Citi's LIES, reframings and motives AND WARN other employees about the latter!

Correct. If it's NOT an IN Seat Promotion, it's NOT a promotion. It's a NEW JOB.

At Sh!ttybank less than 5% of the employee population will be Promoted annually.

In a New Job (AVP TO VP, VP TO SVP etc.) You need to learn a new line of work, methods, procedures, computer systems/platforms, new co-workers, etc..

Do NOT let Sh!ttybank or any employer reframe or spin the truth differently!

And because Sh!ttybank is Broke AS$ Poor, you can now ONLY GET MAX 10% BASE SALARY INCREASE To GO UP ONE C-LEVEL !

Before Year 2025 it was 15%. Before year 2018, it was 20%. See the pattern here??? And annually, 401k, pension, medical and other benefits are being reduced.

Only a Destitute, financially unstable company would need to do the above. RRP and Bankruptcy are imminent.

We've watched this movie before when other financial institutions were pulling the same machinations, subterfuges & levers.

Compare Sh!ttybank to GS and JPMC. JPMC has 310,000 employees and continues to hire. It is NOT struggling financially, technologically or operationally.

Sh!ttybank can reduce headcount to 100,000 employees and it will Still be on its way to Bankruptcy!

Your "logic" or "reasoning" is flawed.

How are employers including Sh!ttybank finding and hiring external job applicants ??

Employees are obviously Quitting their current employers. OR the employees got laidoff or Fired.

One employer's trash is another employer's treasure!

I got a C14 "promotion" and only got 10% raise. I was told by the HR person that it used to be 15% but got capped in 2024. I went from the mid-range of the C13 to the bottom range of the C14; however, the yearly bonus is substantially larger at the C14 level than the 1% I used to get as a C13.

Keep calm and carry on!

LOL! Good post.

Moving up one C level used to be max 15% salary increase. Sh!ttybank now only gives 10% ???!!!

It's obvious Sh!ttybank hates its employees and would rather take the chance that they Quit for an External employer than transfer internally and remain at Sh!ttybank!

So much for the BullSh!t Internal Mobility Lip Service. 10% salary increase to move up one C-level is Lipstick on a Pig!

Yet Sh!ttybank willNot think twice about giving an External New Hire the higher end of the salary range.

Example: If the job posting is for US$100k to $150k, and you're an internal employee making $100, the most you'll get is $110.

But Sh!ttybank will give an external job candidate $140k to $150k !

And Sh!ttybank considers this strategy "saving money". Not only does Sh!ttybank lose internal employees to Quitting, but it needs to pay external new hires more than internal transfers!

It's NO wonder Sh!ttybank is Broke A$S Poor and buried in Consent Orders and MRIAs!

This is NOT the only example of mismanagement at Sh!ttybank. As we all know, there are thousands more scenarios.

I went from C12 to C13 last year in the US. I had heard the max raise you could get was 10% at that time. My C12 salary was low as I had only been in that seat for less than 2 years. The C13 salary I was offered was slightly above the bottom of the lower bracket - I was surprised I was offered more. All in all, my raise from C12 to C13 was around 15%, since giving me less would be under the minimum C13 salary.

I heard horizontal moves (C13 --> C13) would give around 0-5% raises. You should expect a 5-10% raise if you are near or already overlap with the C13 salary, or 10%+ if they need to bring you up to the base C13 salary. Based on your initial comment, it sounds like you should expect around 5-10%.

All that said, if you stay at C12 you WILL reach the upper limit and there is ZERO room for a raise without stepping up a C level. So if you have an opportunity to raise your C level, take it for better upside potential.

I would not move to C13 for only 10%, unless you are title crazy

If you plebs weren't hankering after these 10% salary increases, Jane could be making 52 instead of 42 million only. Shame on you louts for not letting her cross 50 million in salary and bonuses

It will be the low end as it should be as you are a C12, and new to the C13 role.

Contact your recruiter and they can tell you what you are eligible for. It depends on how close your current salary is to the minimum for the C13 jobcode you are interviewing for. If you are already into the range, that is different too.

Keep in mind though, the decision ultimately lies with the hiring manager. Just because you are eligible for XX% doesn't mean you will get that exact number. It may be something a little lower. If everyone on the team is below X, and some of them have already been performing the role, why should you be paid more than them when you haven't done the role a single day? . There is no conspiracy to lowball you. You will be paid fairly/equitably within the new team, and you will have room to grow within the range.

Expect ~8% or the bottom of the bracket. Whichever is greater.

Yep, you'll be lucky to get 10%. Long gone are the days of 15-20% bumps (outside of the investment banking side.)
