Thread regarding BNSF Railway layoffs

BNSF staging transportation for layoffs

BNSF is currently staging transportation department for layoffs, currently doing so under the guise of “business picking up” after just slashing corporate and management for the exact opposite reason. Currently recalling TY&E personnel, including loan outs, back to home terminals, while cutting all 675 and 674 voluntary furlough and ready to work boards, to gather accurate figures of where permanent cuts can be made. This is being done under corporate deception of business picking up, while directly misleading union officers and officials, so as not to cause purposeful disruption in rail services including premature taking of vacation days, exhausting boards, or “lay downs.” BNSF corporate has sent terminal and regional superintendents direct instructions to manufacture a list as to staffing totals, and how to cut total numbers by up to 20% in order to save BNSF 1.5 billion in the fiscal year 2026, with primary cuts occurring in this quarter. Take precautions as nothing only affects BNSF management at the railroad.

@k9 I’m positive that no one said BNSF pulls up track, rather lease out track to shortlines…kind of like BNSF has been doing everywhere including renewing cadet, leasing milby, Pearland and Silsbee to RJ Corman. BNSF trainmasters are doing Yardmaster work, and BNSF has gotten rid of most Yardmaster positions. You sound like a BNSF supervisor or their simp

This post is complete bs. Another untrue scare tactic.
What happened to directional traffic on the coal loop?
What happened to them pulling up track to go to Barstows 1.5 billion expansion?
Alliance ne mechanical is still there.
Are train masters doing yard master work?

Nope… all paranoid railroaders. Make sure you pay your unions more money to “fight” for your jobs. Lmfao

@cr not the same kind of recall, recall from chasing work not recall from furlough. Applies to 3 and 5 year recall for new hires currently chasing work in other terminals

@cr recalled back to home terminals, ie if a new hire was chasing work under a 3 year or 5 year “recall” they can be forced back to hone terminals to protect “jobs” if a vacancy exists, then BNSF management cuts jobs in the terminals including road turns and extra boards, essentially forcing them into furlough after they chased, it’s a super dirty way of doing business. Company lies and says business is picking up to recall them, then cuts them right after recall essentially preventing them from chasing, and if they try to chase again, it repeats

@c7 it’s not about keeping records, it’s about forcing people back to home terminals and then cutting, it literally happens before every furlough, all extra positions, loan outs, low seniority transfer ins who are chasing work, or various created positions like safety team leaders are all forced essentially back to home terminals, to accurately reflect terminal staffing then BNSF cuts deep, preventing the ability of anyone to chase work, or cut it just short of having to reactivate 675 boards(cutting nh99 roster down to only those hired prior to Sept 1 of last year or common referred to as unprotected TY & E) It’s not hard to figure out how much they are going to cut, I’ve already heard of many extra boards being forced to go voluntary 6/3 simply to not pay guarantees for observing rest days, essentially punishing people for taking earned rest.

Let me get this straight. They need to physically bring people back to see how many they have? So they're not keeping records of it? What are they going to do, about it morning muster with a roll call?

KK has been misleading people forever in Alliance, doing the companies dirty work, that’s why he help create so many locals in a single terminal in order to get more votes to stay in union position, while also creating in fighting, playing one group against the other, then act like a savior when he fixes problems he created. No need for the company to lie to Union officers, when you have officers like him who will do the companies dirty work for them, while in the same breath costing Union members their jobs one ignored phone call at a time.
