Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Sales sla-ghter in May

Heard today from a friend of mine who is a director in Sales that they were given notice in January of a very large layoff in May. He was told back in November to put a list together to have finalized in January for layoffs in May.

I'm not in sales so was curious what the "qualifications" were for wfr and he said that it's primrily metric based. Call times, achieving numbers, and weirdly enough, likeability - whatever tf thats supposed to mean...

Apparently his team of 20 is getting cut to 10 people, though. And that's just his team

Unlikely, the new comp plan will likely replace WFRs, people will leave either on their own or via PIP, I think severances are a thing of the past.

they should just put a form somewhere in the office for people to sign, if they want a severance. I am sure half the office would gladly sign. bo-m, issue fixed.

@OP

When you say "call times", that sounds like inside sales. What does that mean? Number of calls per day? There must be several metrics that they look at. I would have to think revenue is one of them.

most that want to go are probably on the list at this point. Not much left here.

Well, when customers no longer want to buy sh-t, it's kind of hard to make quota, although Sales, to their credit, has sold a lot of sh-t.

@a2 They probably would but they know most of the company would jump at this, collect a severance and Dell would be left with 1/4th of a company lol

@a2 Yeah but that would be too nice of Dell to do. Morals... those nasty things!

At this point they should just ask who wants to leave. I’m sure people would happily volunteer.

Sorry, given notice in November, not January. The list was to be handed in by mid January
