Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Inconsistent on PR

I've seen posts here saying if you get an inconsistent on a PR that you're done. But also posts saying that it's being mandated now for a certain number of people to get scored low. So which of these is it? Is it a sure sign of a layoff, or is it just happening a lot more often now?

@OP unless you happen to chat with the people who have made the decision off-site when they are liquored up, you will never know the true logic.

Sometimes what happens is an LL5 tells a LL6 that he will be taking one for the team and needs to give inconsistent marks to his entire team. The LL5 will tell the LL6 that next year his team will get better than expected marks AND for being a team player the LL6 will get better than expected merit/bonus this year. The LL5 is doing this in order to distribute $ to his friends and family.

Other times they are setting up people for potential removal. In Ford land it is always good to have potential targets lined up. The layoff might not be immediate but later or never.

It’s all a big game and once a LL6 goes along with an action that is questionable ethically, they will continue to go along with the game AND vehemently defend the game as fair and ethical. Either that or they exit Ford.

I remember an experienced hire LL5 (new to Ford) who wanted to promote an SG8 to LL6. He goes to HR and finds out the Ford process and starts to follow it. His peers said No No that’s not the way to do it you will be saddled with someone you don’t want. Here is a list of SGs to ask to apply to the position, here is how you ensure no qualified external applicants apply. The LL5 went along with his peers process and promoted his pre-selected candidate. After that they had him by the short-hairs. The guy lasted 3 years at Ford.

Happened to me last year, our whole team got shafted to meet their expected ratings. Not a sign of layoffs most of the times but if there's anything I've learned, never stop interviewing.
