Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

I’d like someone to explain to me how this makes sense.

“Innovate, use the latest tech, develop the latest tech. Now hurry up and go into the office instead of working remotely.” Talk about old school. Yet we try to sell that we are on the ‘cutting edge’.

@b3

Citi has always been siloed, everyone drops the too complicated bo-b outside their team. There are very few turkeys that push for thanksgiving.

Smoke and mirrors.

Wfh

There was a discussion about offering wfh with a 10 - 20% salary cut and manage cost reductions through this and building attrition. Hr put the brakes on that for legal reasons. There would be a potential for a high performer to be paid less than desk space fillers. Add to this people abusing the privilege. So then we have discrimination on who is forced in office or discriminated based on being wfh, child care costs / travel increases coming back. If the kids can’t play with the toys properly then we take the toys away.

Innovate

If you recall Jane talked about a single center of excellence. That’s is India, it was decided years back. It’s considered superior tech location and the quiet part is very low cost. The residual onshore processing / financial / data will be tasked to innovate, ie automate your job and make yourself redundant. Ironically people that innovate will be kicked to the side of the road as no one wants to take you on as their areas are “too complicated” to innovate. It’s all brewing for consent order 2 imo. Controls in place but not effective, experienced staff replaced with drones. Etc. it’s the way Citi has been for many, many years…

In conclusion, sell to the orange man, occ and the press that Citi innovate out of consent order. Whilst cutting costs , planning for an 2027 recession and offshoring to low cost countries. Jane is good at copying, she’s copying the playbook of gs, jp and other large banks. Selling ai and innovation avoid the mistakes made at Harley Davison during orange man first term. No value degrading the brand in the media by stating we’re offshoring 20k jobs, she’ll be in front of congress by eow and as a non us born leader she’d have a lot to handle… her interview shaking will return, despite the training she’s had to stop it…

Embrace the su-k and prepare for the coming recession… none of it is personal.
