They’re saying that they’ll combine the two services. Which one do you think gets merged with other one?
I have noticed that P+ Mobile app is better, but HBO Max’s app is better on OTT/TV devices.

@ez I doubt anyone has any reliable information on this, since the merger was only announced a week ago and isn’t even official. It will take months (or longer) before the deal is closed. At that point, I would expect a significant number of layoffs, logically a lot of engineers who won’t be needed once the stacks are merged, although I would guess there will be tons of redundancy in acquisitions, content strategy, marketing, content ops, etc.
This all su-ks so much. I’m curious what percentage of P+ and HBO Max employees will be laid off. Does anyone have any info in this regard? And will the majority of cuts be happening to streaming?
@by HBO Max has and does handle live streaming for multiple major sports. They also have easy to use hubs for their various brands. The P+ app barely can handle live streaming and absolutely does not have an easily-found brand hub in the app. Have you used either app?
The key would be the live streaming tech. P+ have developed the live streaming for sports, UFC etc. HBO Max doesn't have any. I imagine it would be easier to absorb contents into P+ than to adopt live streaming into HBO Max.
i expect they will do the same as they are with the convergence of P+ and pluto. they will shutter the hbo stack and force them onto the P+ stack, even if the hbo app is better and their stack is better equipped to absorb P+ content and support P+ and pluto as additional brands in their ecosystem. paramount is the parent company and the ego among paramount leadership is unmatched. paramount tech leadership will continue to tell DE and company whatever they have to in order to get their way and continue their power play with their incoming counterparts at hbo. when all is said an done, the hbo app will be unusable. can't wait!
Paramount + in most markets I would imagine unless there is some international partnership that requires them to maintain HBO in a specific territory.
i'm wondering if anyone has heard anything about PR marketing comms etc.. between the two groups ..
