Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Dell Raise & bonus

Alright! This is neither a whining post nor a show off post. This post is for my own knowledge so can make an educated decision about moving within dell or outside of dell. I was given a 4% raise and RSU 30k this year and I’m sitting at about 155k base pay as a i9 in Texas.

I personally feel after being here for 9yrs and being one of the top performer, I should have gotten more than just 4% raise and 100% bonus. So I’m trying to understand what the avg i9 in Services make so I get an idea of me being underpaid or is it just where I need to be.

When I worked in Dell, I got the same raise and RSU and I felt as good as you.
But ween I jumped to different company and I got 50% raise and 300K RSU for 4 years. I knew I was under paid in Dell

@kx I got RSUs 4 years running and then nothing for 3 years. I think there's years I got RSU in lieu of salary which is fine but I had to leave a role I loved in a group I loved to get a proper rise.

He you gotten RSUs in the past or is this the first time that you are getting them? I am an i9, 164K (base) and received a 2.5% increase. 5 years at Dell. one time RSUs in 2022 for 3 years.. never receieved again.

Not a brag but i also want to understand how often do people receive RSUs?

If you want to get PAID in Dell you need to move roles regularly. 4% is a good raise considering not everyone in your group will get that. Some will get nothing, some will get the average (2.x % usually) and some performers will get 4% like you have.

Your boss values you and so does dell but if you want to get double figure raise you need a new role. Stupid. I know.

Be glad you get RSU and 15% on bonus. Many of us get no RSU, get 5% on bonus’ and are working ourselves to death.

@OP You're probably in through 5th percentile of Dell barbershop that aren't VP or higher. If you feel underpaid you shoukd definitely at the very least look around to see what's available. I advise against making any knee-je-k moves in this job market.

@at I moved on a couple of years ago, I retired without a pension and I haven’t started collecting SS yet either. Please forgive me for not remembering that the vesting schedule for RSU’s is 3 years.

@as that $30k is over 3 years. If you can’t help, you should move on.

@OP You are getting paid $155K salary, $23K bonus (i9 15%) and $30K of RSU’s and you are complaining about receiving $210K per year in compensation in services? I was in IT as an i9 with a salary higher than yours with a 15% bonus and I got about $7500 in RSU’s every once in a long while. Stop complaining.

My level is I9. I have been at Dell for 5 years. My base salary is $183,000 per year. I’ve received a 6.5% raise and 51,000 RSUs.

Depends on your job family and title, that can make a significant difference in midpoint for I9

You're well paid compared to an i9 here in Services too. I strongly advise against i10 - these are the first ones to be fired

Go apply at other companies and see what they offer. If you are that good headhunters should be calling you.

Your tenure is completely irrelevant. Your performance is somewhat relevant but only if your manager knows your team would be much worse off without you.

4% and 30k RSUs implies your manager values you, so you have leverage.

my increase was only 2% as an I8 here, review was vague without any constructive feedback. Seems popularity is more important than actual efficiency and competency here. Time to start looking elsewhere cuz this company is circling the drain.

4% raise and 30k RSUs as an i9 are good in this environment. There are definitely others in your situation making a higher base. My suggestion is ask what it takes to get to an i10. Let you manager know that is your goal. Then start networking in other groups where you might be able to move to. You will always be told that "budgets are tight" or "now is a tough time for a promo", blah, blah, blah. It may be true, so you need to get some leverage. Don't be a a**hole, just be determined. My promos happened when I started interviewing outside my org.

Fellow I9 here and looks like your base pay is low. I worked 9 yrs around that rate and then did an internal, lateral transfer to a new roll and they bumped me up to the current rate for new hires. It was a 20% increase in pay! So.. check internal job openings and see what rate they are hiring at and move. That is the only way you will bet the pay bump!

you got maximum RSUs for your OTE - feel good about it
you got 4% ACR - not zero , depends in inflation whenever it's 'something' or nothing.
