Thread regarding 3M layoffs

Consultant review

Why is ESC engaging MARS consultant review this time round? Heard they are reviewing for the BSC teams? potential rationalization again??

For all his faults king George showed the consultants the door and told the 3Mers they were smart and can figure things out. Current leadership under the recommendation of consultants unknowingly pulled a Pol Pot and ki-led a lot of smart people. Is there enough smart people remaining to fix what the consultants wrecked?

Every time there is a new leader there is a consultant and re-org and firing of people placed by previous leadership. By the time they bring their people and start actually functioning, it’s time to change jobs. The new leadership does the same…..no time to learn

“re-org….consultant recommendation….chaotic….sales down…good people let go….worthless people”

And yet we continue endlessly down the same path of hiring useless consultants as if the outcome is somehow going to be better this time. Has a consultant ever once been called back in and shown the disastrous results of their worthless recommendation that they b l e w up the rear ends of those who hired them? No, and they laugh all the way to the bank.

re-org done in TEBG according to consultant recommendation has been chaotic with sales down, good people let go and worthless people given leadership reins…. TEBG has become worthless. Hard to continue working here

Remember Advanced 3M?
That was also the great recommendation from consultant.

@aq
De-do-do-do, de-da-da-da
Is all I want to say to you
De-do-do-do, de-da-da-da
Their innocence will pull me through
De-do-do-do, de-da-da-da
Is all I want to say to you
De-do-do-do, de-da-da-da
They're meaningless and all that's true

Because their lack of knowledge about how 3M operates makes them so insecure that they don’t even know what questions to ask, so it’s easier to just write a check to a consultant. Most often the consultant recommendations are complete failures so that gives the clueless executive a scapegoat and then he or she is shown the door depending on the magnitude of the s c r e w up.

Why does 3M executives love to hire external consultants to check on own company? Can't they trust the VPs and Directors to do their job??

After that townhall, the executives dare not take on "live questions& answers " again. Now Q&A and usually planted. What a joke.

@e5 one of the funniest moments of an otherwise dreadful reign of Tireman was when he was questioned at a townhall about Doms promotion and 3Ms massive spending on Kearney resources.

The use of "firewall" to pretend Dom wasn't involved but somehow bragged about a promotion on LinkedIn. That one liner brought the house in laughter. What a frigging joke!

Wondering if there is another case of Dominic involved?

@aq I heard that IT is taking over all of the tech stuff from MTDE but doesn't have the manpower to actually do any of it, so we should expect a lot of things to disappear.

Similar issues in GBS/IBO. Looks like their IT will be integrating with MTDE which will deplete some of the AP/CODA resources of CSOE. Especially in EX and COMMS. Do the math. This is always a sign of problems at a Fortune 500 club member. Prepare for the next storm!

It is to prepare to outsource as much of ESC to India as possible. Just like IT and all other functions are doing.
