Thread regarding Solventum layoffs

Worst culture of all time

This is the kind of company where low-effort “people leaders” can work with you for a year and start misspelling your name as a way to depersonalize people and signal hierarchy and people are terrified to go take a 20 minute walk break. One of the worst cultures I’ve encountered.

@ck been involved in previous ERP implementations. The only winners are the consultants. And SAP of course.

There's a price to pay at the backend too when a business is spun or sold off. Went through that rodeo too and the cost for the company to do this ERP work to separate is gnarly.

If I could be reincarnated in the next life, I'd want to be an account manager at a consulting firm. Great pay. 1st class travel at the other company's expense. Long-term job security. And I don't have to live withe effed up final product!

I waffle back and forth on staying and going. There are good days and bad days but overall these leaders su-k. I am not sure making us Medtronic is what is best. There is zero interest in understanding why-it's just assumed we were and are stupid. But surprise when they find out we aren't. ERP deployment is a good example. They can't figure out how to get it done on time even after working on it for 2 years.

@OP That’s all the managers are concerned about is how they look to their boss… in my time here most managers admitted that to me. It’s all smoke and mirrors and the company is a joke….
I am just collecting a check until I move on…
The name alone is a joke and so are all the back orders….

When we spin off fully from 3m has anyone thought that we won’t have their adhesive technology anymore for our dressings….

The post yesterday about solventum being a private equity scam is so accurate….

I'm sorry you are going through this and feel this way. There are some decent resource managers here at the company.

Recently, as you know many folks were laid off and some of them are the resource managers who have now gone from managing 6 people to 20, so it has been kind of difficult.

Are you saying that certain managers are stalking your Teams status and will message you or ask where you have been? That is a bit much, unless you are not getting work done, or are gone for hours at a time. I would suggest talking to your manager and making sure you are getting all work done and there are no uncommunicated expectations of you. If you are meeting them and not missing meetings and communicate your status at your desk you should be fine. Sometimes we can all get paranoid and think everyone is watching our every move, but in reality your boss is also concerned about how they look to theirs.
