A former high-flying teammate recently moved into a commercial leader role for Proxxima. I'm not very familiar with the product or its business case - from what I can tell it's meant to be a polymeric replacement for rebar?
What kind of impact can a HiPo make in that business?

This was taken directly from OHSA's website. I worked with this s heet and could not stand it. We had to use special chemical protective suits to apply it. We tried to ship the resin to china but they would not allow a 55 gallon drums in so we had to break it down into 5 gallon pails. Europe doesn't want this poison as well. When ever we worked with this mess we had to be monitored. The stuff was so bad it contaminated a coatings lab up north and an OSHA investigation shut down the lab. Several workers were exposed to excessive DCPD.

proxima is DCPD which is toxic and smelly. It smells like cancer to me. Read the SDS if you don't believe me it is some really nasty stuff. There was a nice law suit by two contractors who were exposed to the resin. The resin is not temperature stable nor is the expensive ruthenium catalyst. The coatings are not compatible with solvents and are toxic to marine life. The coatings cannot handle high temperatures and crack under heat stress. There are too many impurities in the resign that causes deactivation of the ROMP reaction. Exxon cannot produce enough DCPD and must buy resin from goodyear and cymotech and these are full of impurities. The current DCPD production by dorado is plagued with problems like excessive carbon build up in the piping and the deactivation of the platinum catalyst. The regeneration cycle is 45 days which is way too short to be economically viable. China is another problem because their selling price for dcpd is 25% of what exxon can sell it at. It is a total disaster in the making as there are too many problems. It reminds me of algae years back. Smart employees avoid this black hole.
It’s just another forever chemical. Long-term effects, within regulatory limits… the usual.
It’s a toxic product made out of a toxic waste.
Proxima was my and others death blow. It is a lost cause that exxon keeps pushing. I was pip fired and several others were forced to retire. It is best to avoid this dumpster fire at all costs.
OP. I was forced to start using Proxxima/TriFlex on my projects. It is actually not a bad coating product. Exxon now owns.
GatorBar is the next thing I’ll start using. Good product, just very expensive at the moment.
It will be sold soon.
its the next algae
