Thread regarding VISA Inc. layoffs

Layoffs and Junior Engineers

For anyone in North America offices, how likely is Visa to layoff junior engineers?

Depends if you’re just throwing a prompt into a black box and copying and pasting the output or if you understand the fundamentals and can be relied on during a production incident

In my experience, most of the developers who are getting made redundant are more experienced employees in expensive locations. Visa are definitely hiring less juniors, but as far as I can tell, anyone who's already in is safe.

Impossible question to really answer. Depends on your team and how good you are at your job. I think vaguely Visa as a company is trying to invest in juniors who are cheaper and will be easier to force to use AI, so visa might be more prone to lay off seniors. Use AI and hope you’re in a relatively safe team lmao
