AI Performance Goals

Manager added 7 performance goals to MyGPS without my consent yesterday.

5 are AI related. Stuff like "develop your AI Persona", "demonstrate AI to the organization", and "Deploy AI to Production."

None of this stuff is related to any of our day to day work at all. We use AI as an assistant, it helps sometimes and we are mandated to. Thats it. There is no AI in production anywhere, and customers dont want it.

WTF are we doing here? Its year 4 of this song and dance. Shouldnt there be returns on investment and real products to point to at this point?

@19t I watched a video on YouTube about how employers are using AI algorithms to not only guide development, but to also provide managers with "participation scores" for each employee. Those scores are used to determine how much merit increases employees are to receive during annual reviews.

Mine was updated. Last week. I’ve been with the company for 9 years, and this is the first time I’ve seen anything like this rolled out.

None of these performance goals were discussed with me ahead of time. In fact, during my end-of-year review, I was specifically told that my schedule adherence (ADH) was not something I needed to worry about.

Then, after my shift ended, multiple performance goals were added into MyGPS without any prior conversation. There was no coaching discussion, no heads-up—just suddenly documented expectations.

It honestly feels like expectations are being changed after the fact and quietly tracked, which raises concerns about how this information may be used later.

Another concern is the push toward using “Alfred AI” within MyGPS to guide development. When you combine increased metric tracking with AI-driven tools, it starts to feel like decisions could eventually be automated rather than based on real context or performance conversations.

I’m sharing this to see if others are experiencing the same thing. Has anyone else had goals added without discussion or noticed a shift like this?

Doesn't matter - I hit all my goals, rating of just under "5" average..
raked a "3" - no raise.

So I hit all the goals and nothing.

Now will work with manager and ask - why?

ai was added to my goals. copilot was presented as a resource, now it is a metrics. leadership is tracking use. translation-someone made a call in the c-suite to spend money on these initiatives and they’re not getting the ROI for the cost spent so they made it a mandate to fudge metrics.

AI for most is nonsense. I do project work. I can spend a hour trying to get copilot to make a ppt for me and not get it rightor donut myself in 20 minutes.
AI in most of jobs is a scam

These are company related goals. A few years ago instead of building goals with employees, the executive teams started doing mandatory top down goals. It’s not your manager that is coming up with these, it’s VPs. They don’t care what your career goals are anymore, just their own.

Literally make an AI Persona, like give it a name. Direct all emails from your boss to this Persona. Profit.

There has always been a big disconnect between day-to-day work assignments and the "goals" set - often without any discussion - by your manager or team lead.

But "leadership" doesn't want to hear about the disconnects.

They just want you to keep plugging away, thinking you'll be recognized for your work at Annual Review time. Then if you're lucky they'll give you a minimal bonus and maybe a raise that doesn't keep up with inflation.

You don't have to do any of that nonsense. Just like u don't have to come in 4 days a week. Focus on getting a better job in the meantime
