What should the basic hiring standards be for Walmart store associates?

A fine addition to corporate would be the board of directors from BB&B. They can only help Walmart.
The standards begin at the corporate level. The same level where store closings and layoff begin.
Pat, I’d like to solve the puzzle, please. Seems pretty obvious.
I love the way people come to orientation and the next scheduled work day they never show up to work ever again. Hmmmm what do you suppose is going on?. Cr---y first impression or cr---y orientation??
Well, it’s inevitable automation will happen at the stores. It’s too late to change the plans, anyway. It’s more efficient, and reduces the need to hire brainless associates. If I understand the 5 year plan correctly, we’ll see major steps in automation later in 2Q23 and then a big push next year when the new app comes out.
Carl Doug Mcmillion woke to the core. Walmart corporate culture is woke. https://duckduckgo.com/?q=woke+and+carl+doug+mcmillion&t=h_&ia=web
If you read this thread basically we all agree that Walmart can't hire. This thread shows us that we complain about the work ethic. Except on the automation end some say it will not happen as we need human interaction.
Now if we see (even based on this thread) that hiring is a tough and turnover is very high. I'm sure Walmart see this too and this is why most retailers are moving this way. This thread shows us that automation will happen.
Exactly. You hire people and many don’t show up for orientation. If they do show up for orientation they are either so disengaged, on their phones texting or leave orientation half way into orientation. Some finish orientation and never show up for work. For those who make it through the orientation, many never show up for the first scheduled day of work.
For those who do come to work, they have zero work ethic, are lazy, spend time texting while working, have zero communication skills, and simply just stop showing up for work. Some consistently call in and their coach feels sorry for them and approve ALL their absences.
Pathetic isn’t it?
That’s because hiring standards are low. Think about it. A more robust hiring process weeds out the undesirables.
would be nice if the ones who are breathing showed up for work. Our store has hired at least 25 people this year who went through all the training and onboarding and then never showed up for the first day of work.
Mirror fogs when placed under applicant's nose.
Pat, I’d like to solve the puzzle now. It’s obvious.
Brains yes. Thumbs no. Opposable thumbs yes. Breathing yes. Walk and chew gum yes. A shower yes. Deodorant YES. A vehicle yes. Wokeness NO.
Well, since coaches, SM and MM all come from internal sources, We won’t fix that until there are hiring standards across the board. It won’t matter, however, since in the grand scheme of things, the stores are moving to more and more automation.
Let’s talk about hiring standards for coaches, store managers and market managers. Lol
There aren’t any!!
There’s no point in talking about hiring standards for store associates. In the not so distant future, it’ll be better if they move toward total automation or robots.
One thing is obvious, there’s obviously no hiring standards at the stores.

For cap 2 being able to pass level 5 in Tetris is a must. They can’t stack boxes on pallets most of the time and good luck pulling them out to the floor.
I like the 9 hiring standards listed below. Unfortunately, we’re dreaming if we think any of them would be adopted.
Ok, the list you provided is incorrect.
You may have facial piercings and facial tattoos, you can be late for work because your manager will approve it, you can work as many times as you want for Walmart because if you get terminated, management will still hire you back even if you get terminated for attendance or insubordination or even poor job productivity. You won’t get rehired if you were terminated for theft.
You don’t have to be a high school graduate and you don’t need to speak English.
You can have a felony conviction and get hired.
You can wear anything you want to work including sweats and pants hanging below your underwear because managers don’t hold anyone accountable for dress code.
Only positions Walmart dr-g tests for is auto care technicians and pharmacy workers and vision centers.
Here’s a list of hiring standards we can start with:
- Must be able to read, write and speak English
- Must have a high school diploma or GED
- No felony convictions
- No convictions for retail theft
- Must pass a dr-g test
- No previous employment with Walmart that ended in termination
- No trousers pulled down below hips
- No face tattoos or face piercings
- Must be able to get to work on time
I’m sure there’s more, but this is a reasonable start.
There aren’t any. They are desperate for workers just like everyone else. So if you can speak, walk and breathe, YOUR HIRED!!!!
You don’t even need a work ethic because if you call in , your absences will be approved. You can also wear whatever you want because the dress code isn’t enforced and your poor productivity won’t be addressed either!
